No. We are entirely independent. We exist specifically to direct people toward the UN Women framework, which is where IWD legitimacy actually sits.
Not currently. Everyone involved in IWDforALL.org, including the founder, volunteers their time. We are a not-for-profit platform and sustainability matters to us. As we grow, we may in time move toward salaried roles so that the people doing this work are properly supported. Any funding we receive and any organisations we partner with will be aligned with our values. We will always be transparent about how money flows into and through the platform.
Currently we are self-funded by the founder and supported by voluntary contributions through Ko-fi. We do not rule out corporate sponsorship, but our criteria are rigorous. Any corporate partner must demonstrate consistent values, behaviours, and actions on gender equality. Sponsors have no editorial influence over our content, are clearly identified, and must evidence substantive commitment to gender equality. Our funding model is and will remain transparent.
IWDforALL.org was founded by Hilary Williams, Chartered Project Professional, qualified coach, and writer. The platform is built and run by a small team of volunteers who believe the mission matters.
Yes. We support IMD (19 November) for the same reason we support IWD, because gender equality is a systems issue that affects everyone. We are not anti-men. We are anti the system that limits everyone.
Yes. We welcome contributions aligned with the platform's mission. Content should be original, evidence-informed, and free of commercial motivation. Please email iwdforall@gmail.com with your idea.
If your organisation is doing genuine, sustained work to advance gender equality, we would like to hear from you. We feature people and organisations through our Doing The Work interview series. Email iwdforall@gmail.com.
We fact-check claims, link to primary sources, and send all interview content to subjects for accuracy review before publication. We correct errors promptly and transparently.
International Women's Day (8 March) is a UN-recognised day marking progress toward gender equality and the work still ahead. Its official home is UN Women, who set the annual theme - it isn't owned by any single company.
It's marked differently worldwide: marches rooted in the suffrage and labour movements, workplace events, panels, community gatherings, and in some countries a public holiday.
We think "celebrated" only tells half the story. IWD works best as a prompt, not a performance - a moment that pushes people and organisations to ask what they're doing about equity the other 364 days of the year. The work we spotlight happens all year round; IWD is simply when the rest of us pay closer attention.
We intend to do so in time. Events and conferences are an important way of platforming the people doing real gender equity work and amplifying the mission. We welcome sponsorship from organisations whose values align with ours, provided they have no editorial influence over our content. We do not accept sponsorship from organisations using association with this platform as a substitute for substantive action on gender equality.
The suffragettes started small too. This is year one of something we intend to last, and grow.
We are anti-system, not anti-men. The rigid gender system that limits women also limits men, in different ways but with real costs. That is why we cover both IWD and IMD and why men contribute to and read this platform.
We are pro-accountability. Corporations can and do contribute to gender equality when it is genuine and sustained. We are critical of performance without substance, not of corporate involvement per se.
